Where to even start with Cait and Ben? Really. After many months of chatting online, we finally met up in person for their engagement photo session. They travelled up to my neck of the woods, just outside of Toowoomba, on the most windy, overcast and freezing cold winters day you could imagine. I'll admit that I was feeling a bit bleak about the weather. It was certainly less than ideal, but we hit it off straight away, and as we headed out into the grassy paddocks the clouds parted and we were treated to one of the most incredible sunsets I've seen all year. It was almost as if there was something about these two. Their love for one another is so obvious and it lights up everything around them, and their wedding day was no exception.

The original wedding plans were foregone in lieu of a registry office ceremony in Brisbane City, the room had the most wonderful views over the city. Surrounded by their (socially distanced) loved ones they exchanged vows that had everybody, including me, in tears (yeah look, I cry at all of my weddings! It's a thing so be warned!) then it was off to the botanical gardens and Parliament House for some fun with the newlyweds and their bridal party. And man, did we laugh. So much good times with these guys! And of course it wouldn't be right to not mention 'the eel'. Cait and Ben share a strong love for Japan and the Japanese culture, having visited many times together over the years. Naturally, they chose an intimate sit down degustation of the most incredible looking seafood at their favourite restaurant, Sono, where their guests enjoyed good food and conversation at traditional lowered tables in a private dining room. The tables were adorned with delicate bud vases of poppies and dahlias provided by their chosen florist, Branch & Sea, and simple menus which the bride made herself.

Every small detail about this day was thoughtful, unconventional and beautiful. Hands down, one of my very favourite weddings of 2020. Big, big love for these two <3
